Lana & Janae are both taking dance classes this year. They only have 1 day per semester where they allow parents to come in & watch the class (to minimize distractions). Kevin & I were both able to attend both of the girls' classes during their watch days. It was interesting to see how they behaved (or misbehaved) in class. Janae was the typical shy child but participating in 90% of the activities in her Creative Movement Class.
Janae with her scarf. She spent the entire song trying to get the scarf to be a cape while the rest of the class danced around her.
They got to show off their "positions". Not sure what this one is called since I only had maybe a few months of ballet when I was Janae's age.
All these great pics of Janae were taken with my friend, Wendy's camera. Her daughter, Ali is in the same dance class.
Here she is dancing across the floor! Janae loves dance class & really paid attention in class.
Lana... she spent most of the class goofing off or just not paying attention & it was a little disappointing to watch her in class. In fact, had we not already paid for the recital in May (including a purchasing a costume) - we probably would've pulled her out after her class. We're just crossing our fingers that she was tired (she was yawning a little) and that's why she was goofing off instead of paying attention to the directions, etc. This photo is at the end of class & she actually was doing what the teacher asked of her.
Concentrating!
Lana is one of the youngest in her class & she says she enjoys dance A LOT. So we'll see how well she improves - we'll be talking to her teacher next semester to see whether or not she is improving & if they think this is the right creative outlet for her. When Lana did try, it was really fun to watch. :)
