Ryan & Heather's wedding

Well... the wedding might not have gone as planned (poor wedding planner, rain, no minister, etc.) but they pulled off a beautiful DR beach wedding (& have some great stories to tell).

Just when it was time to head out to the beach - it started to pour.  Everyone headed back inside to take cover.  I took this shot from the 1st floor looking up to the 2nd floor balcony.  Evalyn, Lana, Janae, Heather, Alayna & Gary (Heather's dad).

My beautiful flower girls - waiting out the rain.

Watching the rain come down.

The view of the wedding area - where we should be at this moment.

Heather assigned Janae as her official "fanner".  Janae took this job seriously.

Can you see the rainbow?  I hear they are good luck... just like rain on your wedding day.  At least we kept telling Heather that!  (I swear I heard that somewhere).

A beautiful shot as the rain lets up from their balcony.

While we wait for the wedding planner to let us know if the wedding is going to take place (and where) - we decide to take pictures.  Here is Heather's mom Susie & her sister, Krista.

Our lovely family.

One VERY frustrated bride.  She was supposed to get married an hour ago on the beach... the current plan is to get married in a ballroom that sort of overlooks the beach.  "If I wanted to get married in a ballroom, I would've gotten married in Kansas City".

After a well-deserved melt down, we figured out that Mike (Jessica's dad) could marry the couple due to him being a commissioned officer in the army.  Ryan to Heather (on the phone): Meet me on the beach in 10 minutes - we are getting married!

It's getting dark.  Here comes the flower girls & the bride.

I love how Janae is looking up at her Aunt Heather in this photo.

Trying to get a quick family photo after the wedding.  It got pretty windy!

The wedding party.

Our new family.

Janae & Evalyn pretending to be princesses who are going to their wedding - where they are going to marry their Dads.

The golf cart ride to the reception.

At the reception.

Gary showed Lana how to fold her napkin into a flower.

The girls pretending to be "old" people (age 40 according to them).

The cake.

Cutting the cake (the song "Ice Ice Baby" was playing in the background).

The girls were exhausted & kept asking to go home (it was a much longer day than planned).  They ended up laying down on the chairs & resting - well except for crazy night owl, Janae.

We were so happy we were able to attend this wedding & help them celebrate this special day.
