Riding the bus!
Checking out the marbles before our tour.
The kids were given marbles & taught how to play games. First lesson - how to "knuckle down" and shoot your marble.
Janae's "shooter" marble. On her turn it went a little "astray". Only a few kids actually got points on their turn.
Next, we learned about how marbles are made. We watched a video showing how they are mass produced & then this man made a marble for us by hand from start to finish.
After adding some colors & rolling it a few times.
Rolling the hot marble.
After adding some dots to the marble. Isn't it pretty?
He then showed us how to twist glass (two colors twisted together).
While it was hot he stretched them apart & showed us how the center wasn't hot & how that is how fiberglass is made.
Then the fun part - they got to fill these tubes with marbles!
Ready, set, GO!
So many to pick from!
After you filled your tube with marbles, you were supposed to close your eyes & reach into "Big Mouth Bigallow's" mouth & pull out a shooter marble.
It was a really fun field trip & I can't wait to go as a family sometime - it would be a fun place to take the kids with their birthday money to spend - they had LOADS of fun, unique toys.
