Snow Day!

We'd been hearing for a week that we were going to have "Snowmeggedon" hit KC on Thursday.  Well we were all a little skeptical since the weathermen often get it wrong, but this time they were right on the money. They cancelled school the night before (after kids were in bed) & Kevin even woke up to find out that his work was closed for the day too.  The snow didn't start really coming down until everyone was up and as the day progressed, the city started shutting down.  They closed the malls, restaurants, etc.  It was definitely the most snow we've gotten since I've lived in KC.  Thankfully we have great neighbors who snow-blowed our driveway for us and who we can play with in the snow.

Here is our front yard at 9:00am.

Back yard at 9:00am.

 Lana - 12:45pm
Janae - 12:45pm

Janae & Vivian run through the cul-de-sac.  There were no cars driving today so they even laid down & did snow angels in the middle of the road.

Sledding in the Reich-
eneker's front yard.
Lana trying to get a running start on the sled - the snow had to be packed down a bit before they could slide on it well.

Bremmer pushing Vivian & Haley on the sled.
Janae takes a turn with the sled.
The neighbor-
hood kids (minus Bremmer who was hit in the face with a snowball).  They all were thrilled when we said they could climb into the snow pit in the back of Kevin's truck.  Not sure the "pit" lived up to the hype.

Snow angel time!
Triscuit checks out the action.
Lana brought me a HUGE snowball.  :)  5:45pm
Haley & Janae brought a bigger snowball that appar-
ently didn't make it up the stairs very well.  They still wanted a photo of it.  :)  6:00pm

They called "no school Friday" around 5:30 on Thursday so we ended the day with Lana spending the night at Maddie's house & Vivian spending the night over here.  I'm sure we'll regret it Saturday since Haley is spending the night here Friday night & Lana is spending the night at Mary's house on Friday night... but that's what naps & 4-day weekends are for, right?
