Bluff Dwellers Cavern

Kevin & I both love caves & so we decided to make a stop at a cave on the trip home from Little Rock this year.  Bluff Dwellers Cavern was about 1/2way, kid-friendly and happened to be open (off-season for some of the caves) so we decided to go there.

Here's a shot of our tour guide & Janae, leading us through one of the pathways in this cave.

And that would be a rubber ducky enjoying this small indoor pond.

It's amazing how tall this cave is at times.

These are called ribbons.

This piece of rock fell from the ceiling (over time as the water below it slowly drained away and even though it weighed several tons our guide was able to rock it back & forth on its pivot point with just the press of one finger.

Amazing how different looking formations can form in the same cave.

The ceiling above this formation was only around 3' tall.

This column wasn't needed but was built in the one room of this cave just so the people would feel better.  So it's not structural at all.  (This room was used as a possible fall-out shelter).

If you ask Lana, we saw two bats (looked like fuzzy, light brown tator-tots), two salamanders (one of them shown here) & a cricket.  :)
