Lana's first day of 1st grade

Lana started first grade today!  We put together her backpack last night & laid out her clothes before bed.  This morning she woke up (on her own) at 6:25 & so she took a shower & played a little before we left for school.

Ready for our first day.  Had to bring the umbrella since it was raining this morning.  She's wearing her new Hello Kitty Shirt.

Here are the other kids in our carpool.  We only drove Bremmer to school today (who was "too old" to need his Mommy to walk him in).  Maddie is our next-door neighbor.  Both Maddie & Bremmer are starting 2nd grade.  (Haley, Bremmer's sister will start Kindergarten on Wednesday - to add to our carpool).

We got to school more than 10 minutes early which meant we had to go to the gym to wait until it was time to walk to their classroom.  (We thought we got there early enough to park in the parking lot - but I guess everyone had the same idea - thankfully we allowed a lot of extra time).  Finally we were allowed to go to the classroom & cause it was the first day, they walked all the first graders in a line together from the gym to their "wing".  I got to go into Lana's classroom, help her find her desk & take a quick picture.

The kid next to Lana hadn't arrived yet & Janae REALLY wanted to stay & sit in his/her desk.  I promised her a donut after we left and she was appeased.
