Fire Station Field Trip - Janae's Daisy Troop

Janae's Daisy Troop took their first field trip to the Fire Station.  The girls did so well & the fireman giving our tour commented several times on how respectful our girls were being.

All the girls were invited to try on the heavy Oxygen tank.

The Fire Lieutenant talking to the girls about the fire truck.

The girls were invited onto the truck & then were allowed to get into the drivers seat.  Janae brought her Daisy bear along on the field trip. :)

The whole troop minus one sick kiddo.  You'd think with 13 girls it would be a bit chaotic, but the girls are always so well behaved.

Fire Lieutenant, Phillip Gisel, borrowed Janae's bear to tell the girls not to go back into a fire for anything - not even for your pet or your favorite stuffed animal.  He also talked about what to do if there was a fire in your house.  I learned a few things I didn't know.  (They said if you can't get out of your room to tap on your window with something (knuckles or toy, etc.) so the firemen can hear you since the kids probably aren't strong enough to open their windows).  Also if you can see through the smoke to your destination - then it is safe to crawl through it - if not, stay put or go the other way (stay in your room, etc.).

They got the "rookie" to put all the pieces of his fire suit on.  They have to put it all on in 1 minute but he walked through it slowly for the girls & described in detail why each part is important.

The fireman ready to battle the fire.

He invited the girls up to touch his suit, etc. The goal is for the girls to become comfortable with him so if a fireman ever does come to their house they aren't scared of him & run and hide.  He said if you ever see him in your house to come run up to him & give him the biggest hug ever.  :)
