Zoo Pre-K Playdate

We went to the zoo with a few of the kids from Lana's Pre-K class (so they could get to know each other before school starts). One of the moms had free zoo tickets - who can pass up a deal like that. I hadn't been to the zoo since Janae was an infant - a lot had changed. We enjoyed the sea lions, the elephants, the primates & Africa the most. Here are some of the pictures from our outing!

Waiting for our friends to arrive!

Just look at those smiles!  It was such a cold day & mom didn't even think to bring jackets - way to go mom!  It was August though - who wears a jacket in August in Kansas?  The girls warmed up a bit after running around this "playground" at the entrance.

There were 2 trainers & 2 sea lions. This trainer had the more active Sea Lion who did several tricks - I think this was probably my favorite thing we saw all day.

I brought the wagon so I wouldn't be carrying Janae when she got tired (although we did have a melt-down around 11:00 cause she wanted to be carried anyways - food fixed that fit). Nobody else brought transportation for their kids so our wagon ended up being an unexpected hit. In this picture are the kids who came from Lana's Pre-K class - Kyle (who was in Lana's 3 year old preschool), Ally & Lana!

There were 4 elephants & the kids labeled each one (mommy, daddy, grandma & grandpa). You could tell that the elephants were trained because they paused in interesting formations & one even walked backwards for 20-30 steps (we thought he was going to "crash" into the others - we didn't see the "trainer talk" but my guess is they are a big hit.
